PHOTOS DE FEMMES

A NEW WAY OF LOOKING AT WOMEN. POWERFUL. EMPOWERING. DIVERSE. EMPATHETIC. ICONIC.
UNAPOLOGETIC.

Photos de Femmes is a new kind of festival that is dedicated exclusively to promoting positive representations of women in photography.  Our exhibits and calls for entry are designed to celebrate intelligence, beauty, sensuality, freedom, diversity, and all things that promote women.

Invisibility is no longer an option. It is time to re-examine the conventional wisdom not just about how women function in the world of photography as curators, photographers, festival organizers, writers, and critics, but as subjects in photographs.

We host exhibits, photo competitions, seminars and photo festivals dedicated to providing the most diverse and powerful images of women.  We select the best contemporary images of women in every genre of photography by every gender of photographer. Our goal is to develop an ongoing dialogue that keeps women in the spotlight.  Women can’t be HEARD if we can’t be SEEN.

We formed the Photos de Femmes (PDF), a non-profit organization, in October 2018 with the aim of redirecting the dialogue around images of women so that women themselves could have more agency and authenticity in photography. Our exhibitions are meant to blend with whatever venue we work with and can range from a typical exhibit of framed photographs on gallery walls to presentations and outside installations.

Join us and elevate the way women are seen. Please contact Wendy Hicks or Renée Jacobs for exhibit, venue, partnership, and sponsorship opportunities.
